Softspace deals with textiles in architecture. Through softness, changing light reflections and movement, it reacts to the human body bringing tactility and atmosphere.
Having faced our deep-rooted connection to textiles, Softspace works with the unique material qualities and transforms them into three-dimensional room objects that encompass the beholder and open up a new space in-between free floating threads. Creating lightness and generosity in correspondence with the surrounding architecture.
Born in Offenbach am Main, Germany (1991), Marie Schumann now lives in Zurich, Switzerland. Marie works with industrial jacquard weaving looms, that allow extremely complex weaving processes in which she pushes the boundaries of dimensionality and materiality. This leads to a focused exploration of movement, space and the surrounding architecture.
